Mali Veliki on our founder: how a problem turns into a business opportunity

The business portal Mali Veliki published an interview with our founder and director Martin Kajtazi on how a problem turns into a business opportunity.

Martin explains why we say we are developers, but entrepreneurs: projects usually stall when the business and technical sides assume different things. That is why every conversation we have starts with the problem rather than the technology, and why we say so openly when a feature is not worth building.

Much of the interview is about our own products. Arhium started as an internal tool for land and spatial planning data, and we turned it into a real product once we saw how many professionals had the same problem. Martin admits the hardest part was deciding what not to build, so we weigh every new feature by how much time it saves users, and set the price by the value they get rather than the hours we put in. Nema dima, a free app for finding smoke-free venues, grew out of personal frustration.

He closes with risk. The biggest one was leaving a stable job, and he argues it shrinks with preparation, starting small and being willing to adjust the plan along the way.
