24sata, Croatia’s most-read news portal, published the story of Nema dima and how it came to be. The app is completely free, ad-free and without any monetisation, with Martin currently covering all costs out of his own pocket because, as he puts it, he genuinely believes in the idea.
Users can search cafés, restaurants, bars and other venues by name or use GPS to see the nearest places around them. The point, Martin stresses in the article, is not that the app is aimed against smokers. It helps everyone find what suits them, especially when they are off their home turf, in a different neighbourhood or city.
The article also tells the bigger story: a business that started as a sole trade grew into CRISP d.o.o., a company building websites and applications, which is developing Arhium in parallel, a B2B platform for professional land analysis already used by architects, investors and real estate agencies in Croatia.
The response exceeded expectations: in just a few days the app recorded more than 3,000 individual visitors, several thousand clicks on venues and hundreds of registered users and votes, with over 90 percent of social media comments being positive.
